OK First of all, don’t give anyone your personal information. We don’t now what they are going to do with it. You address, phone number etc. are not to be shared with anyone you don’t know personally…and that does not include chat-room friends
Maybe you should surf the ‘net with your parents? I mean, come on! They are older. You can have some kind of an agreement as to how far into your private stuff they can delve, maybe?
If you come across something which you think is wrong, tell your parents and your service provider.
It’s your password. Why do you think they don’t show it on the screen when you type it? Keep it personal…it’s one of your most personal pieces of information.
You don’t know the people whom you’re speaking to on the ‘net, however much they insist upon their honesty. What they say may be deceptive. I mean, what can stop a 35-year old man to say that he’s a 13-year old girl? And as for pictures, well, it could be anybody’s. So don’t make plans to meet anyone whom you only know through the internet.
You do want uninterrupted access to the ‘net and the fun games of chuckkle.com, right? Well, then don’t open mails from people whom you don’t know, because they could have a virus, which could cause big-time problems on your PC/laptop.
Don’t put anything on the ‘net which you aren’t comfortable with other people knowing; you don’t know who can see it.
If someone writes something which makes you feel uncomfortable, or tells you not to tell your parents about something, tell your parents.
Change your password frequently…security purposes… it’s hard for hackers to hack your computer that way.
Always use virus scan before downloading things.
Breaking into someone else’s computer is punishable by law.
Check with your parents before filling out an order form…they will be the ones paying for it, you know.
Always confirm information, because it is not necessarily correct.
