Global warming is hard to ignore. A current threat to our habitat, combating global warming has become number one priority for all nations. But what is this global warming you may ask?
Global warming in simple terms can be defined as the average increase of Earth's temperature. A serious reason for worry, this phenomenon is caused by various factors, many of which are results of our day to day activities. The most significant cause of rise in global temperatures i.e. global warming is Carbon dioxide. Commonly released due to burning, of fuel and almost every other One of the constituent gases of Earth's atmosphere, CO² is an essential gas for plants as they require it for photosynthesis. But as trees are being cut down at an intense rate to make way for the increasing population of the world, the carbon dioxide levels are also increasing as trees and plants through the process of photosynthesis absorb CO² and release oxygen, thus maintaining a balance between these two elements of the earth's atmosphere.
Gases like Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Nitrous Oxide, also known as Greenhouse gases, are a hazard to our environment as they absorb sun's infrared rays and heat earth's atmosphere. While a little heat trapped in the atmosphere might not sound as imperative as it is thought to be, it's actual implementations are highly catastrophic. The heat trapped in earth's atmosphere thus leads to rise in global temperatures, which in turn will lead to receding winters and melting of ice peaks and glaciers causing calamities capable of wiping out the world.
Global warming is a threat that needs to be attended to now. Since it is a man-made problem, its solution is in our hands. By simply reducing pollution levels (by using public transportation and eco-friendly means) and planting trees rather than cutting them we can save our environment and prevent any further harm. Global warming is not fiction; it is a reality that we are facing in the form of warm weather throughout the year. Remember, Global warming is recent and yet polar caps have already started melting. Therefore, it is important to take charge for the betterment of environment now before it is too late.
